About me

I'm Farhan Shafi, a WordPress developer in Karachi, Pakistan. I work remotely with teams around the world, mostly on plugins, Gutenberg blocks and custom themes, and also on React, Next.js and Node.js apps.

I've been doing this for six years. I maintain Ultimate Blocks, which runs on more than 50,000 WordPress sites, and I built Galleryberg from scratch. I've also built client websites, multi-tenant dashboards and SaaS products.

I like work where the result has to be fast, accessible, and simple enough that the next developer can pick it up.

    • Lead maintainer of Ultimate Blocks, a 36-block Gutenberg plugin used on 50,000+ sites. I ship free and Pro features, fixes, and compatibility updates in PHP and React.
    • Built Galleryberg from scratch with responsive layouts, a lightbox, captions, ACF and SCF image sources, and a Pro carousel. Now active on 2,000+ sites.
    • Moved TableBerg from a custom editor to native Gutenberg blocks, with versioned PHP migrations and before-and-after render tests. Now active on 4,000+ sites.
    • Rebuilt SliderBerg with Swiper.js and native editor patterns. Now active on 2,000+ sites.
    • Built Productberg, product carousel and category grid blocks for WooCommerce that follow the store's own styles. Released on WordPress.org in October 2026.
